This June 2012 issue of OVC News & Program Updates contains nine articles discussing issues related to crime victims.
Abstract
The first article, Responding to Male Crime Victims, talks about law enforcement's response to male crime victims, while the second article highlight's one man's response to being a victim of violence. The third article covers an interview with Mary Lou Leary, Acting Assistant Attorney General of the United States. The fourth article deals with the challenges of Americans living overseas that experience domestic violence. The fifth article provides general information on the U.S. Department of Defense Authorization Act of 2012, while the sixth article provides an overview of an OVC fellowship that will showcase innovative practices developed, adapted, or implemented by State VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) programs and the challenges these programs continue to face. The seventh article discusses a 2-day training program designed to show community service providers how to partner with local military installations to respond effectively to the needs of sexual assault victims in the military. The eighth article in this issue highlights the problem of sexual assault in the military, while the ninth article discusses problems faced by crossover youth.
