This overview of current Wisconsin laws relating to operating a vehicle and possession or drinking of alcohol beverages in a motor vehicle cites relevant laws enacted through the 1991-1992 legislative session and makes reference to pertinent changes made in 1991 Wisconsin Act 277 pertaining to the drunk driving laws.
Abstract
The overview defines basic operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) offense and OWI-related offenses, discusses the implied consent law applicable to motor vehicles, outlines related laws about operating a motor vehicle after license suspension or revocation, and reviews innovative laws in several other States pertaining to sanctions for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Under current Wisconsin law, a person may not operate a motor vehicle while he or she has a blood alcohol concentration of 0.1 percent or more by weight of alcohol in that person's blood or 0.1 grams or more of alcohol in 210 liters of that person's breath. 7 appendixes
