The 1981 edition of Pennsylvania juvenile court standards is provided.
Abstract
Standards are provided in the areas of juvenile court administration, jurisdiction, detention, intake, hearing procedures, disposition, juvenile court and police relations, juvenile probation merit standards, social study, juvenile records, management information system, and juvenile court masters. Specific issues touched on in the standards included appointment of a lay juvenile court advisory committee, probation staffing and duties, use of court interpreters, the nonpayment of fines and costs, the establishment, termination, and effect of jurisdiction, and the development of written detention procedures. Other standards prescribe procedures for initiation and conduct of hearings, institutional and secure placement, police handling of juveniles, and operation of a juvenile court merit system.
