This report is a description of population movements into, among, and out of the Massachusetts correctional institutions during 1976.

Abstract

Tables contained in the report were derived from the data base developed by the Correction and Parole Management Information System. Data are given for the types of admissions into the institutions, types of releases, institutional transfers among institutions, and returns from houses of correction to the prisons. Data also portray inmates received from county facilities to State institutions for the first time and transfers to and transfers from other States. A glossary and footnotes are supplied.
