This document from the New South Wales Ombudsman's Office is an agency self-assessment checklist for reviewing child protection policies.
Abstract
This document from the office of the New South Wales (NSW) Ombudsman is a self-assessment checklist for use by agencies to review their child protection policies. The criteria included on the checklist are those used by the Ombudsman's office to review an agency's child protection policy. The review questions on the checklist are presented in 11 categories: 1) Introduction; 2) Definitions; 3) Legislative requirements; 4) Prevention; 5) Roles and responsibilities; 6) Risk assessment; 7) Documentation and record keeping; 8) Rights of all parties; 9) Support available for all parties; 10) Target groups in the community; and 11) Review date. As noted on the checklist, an answer of "no" to any of the criteria indicates that the agency's child protection policies may need a review.
