Abstract
THE REVIEW OPENS WITH AN OVERVIEW OF THE LITERATURE, WHICH CITES RESEARCH DEFICITS AND NEEDS AND OFFERS RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE RESEARCH. CONCLUSIONS DRAWN FROM A REVIEW OF 1,500 ARTICLES AND BOOKS ARE REPORTED IN CHAPTERS ON UNDERSTANDING AND TREATING SEXUAL OFFENDERS, LEGAL ISSUES AND SEXUAL ASSAULT, CHANGING PERSPECTIVES ON SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS, CHILD SERVICES, SEXUAL ASSAULT IN INSTITUTIONS, AND MEDICAL ISSUES AS THEY RELATE TO RAPE VICTIMS. A CHAPTER ON STRATEGIES FOR INFORMATION RETRIEVAL IN SEXUAL ASSAULT COVERS BIBLIOGRAPHIES; COMPUTERIZED SEARCHES; PERIODICALS, INDEXES, AND STATISTICAL SOURCES; AND INSTITUTIONAL RESOURCES.
