The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) offers introductory and specialty training programs at the Staff Training Center at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia. Professional growth and supervisory preparation courses are offered at the Management and Specialty Training Center in Aurora, Colorado.
Abstract
This schedule describes the courses available to BOP employees to expand their professional knowledge and advance their careers. Correctional officers complete an initial training program within their first week of employment, followed by a 3-week techniques training program. The specialty courses listed in this directory are classified as collateral duties, community corrections, correctional programs, correctional services, educational services, executive staff, facilities, financial management, food management services, and health services. Other categories include human resources, inmate systems management, legal services, psychology services, religious services, field support, and instructional systems design. Two final sections cover the National Academy of Corrections and the Training Institution Program.
