This report provides a statistical description of the characteristics of releases to the street from the Massachusetts Department of Correction during 1977.

Abstract

The tables contain information on present offense variables, personal background characteristics, criminal history variables, furlough participation, and release variables for all inmates released to the streets from Massachusetts correctional institutions. The tables were derived from the computerized data base developed by the Correction and Parole Management Information System. The report's first section lists the specific non-prerelease institutions and combines the prerelease facilities into one category. The report's second section lists the specific prerelease facilities and combines the non-prerelease institutions into one category. A glossary is supplied. (Author summary modified)
