Abstract
FIELD STUDY REVIEWS PROJECT TELETRAINING OF THE AUDIO VISUAL RESEARCH UNIT OF THE SUFFOLK POLICE DEPARTMENT. ROLE PLAY VIDEO TAPES FOR ACADEMY TRAINING, IN-SERVICE TRAINING TAPES, AND TELEVISION TRAINING MATERIALS AS LECTURE AIDS ARE ALL PRODUCED BY THE PROJECT. THE PREPARATION AND PRODUCTION OF THESE MATERIALS ARE DESCRIBED, AS WELL AS THE PROGRAM CONTENT AND THE PROJECT ORGANIZATION AS A WHOLE. APPLYING THE CRITERIA OF GOAL ACHIEVEMENT, REPLICABILITY, MEASURABILITY, EFFICIENCY, AND ACCESSIBILITY TO THE PROJECT, IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT IT WAS PROMISING IN ITS ABILITY TO GIVE TIMELY AND UNIFORM INSERVICE TRAINING INFORMATION, AND WAS ESPECIALLY EFFICIENT AND HELPFUL FOR DECENTRALIZED POLICE PRECINCTS. CRITICISMS WERE A LACK OF SYSTEMATIC EVALUATION COMPONENTS TO ASSESS TRAINING EFFECTIVENESS AND THE NEED TO SPECIFY OBJECTIVES AND ANTICIPATED
