REPORT EXAMINES OPERATION AND PROGRESS OF A GROUP HOME.
Abstract
THE THREE RIVERS YOUTH (TRY) HOUSE PROGRAM IN PITTSBURGH, (PA), IS GEARED TO 13 TO 18 YEAR-OLDS WHO HAVE EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS AND WHO MAY PRESENT DISTURBING BEHAVIOR. TRY HAS A NUMBER OF SPECIFIC GOALS. THESE INCLUDE DEVISING TREATMENT PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE CONDITIONS FOR GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT, DEVELOPING COMMUNICATIONS AND POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE FAMILY AND COMMUNITY, AND PREVENTING MORE SEVERE PROBLEMS AND REMEDIAL TREATMENT. THE REPORT FOUND THAT MANY OF THE SERVICES OFFERED BY TRY HAVE BEEN WELL ORGANIZED AND PRODUCED RESULTS. MANY JUVENILES IN THE PROGRAM HAVE SHOWN A NOTICEABLE DECLINE IN ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOR AND IN INTERVIEWS REFLECTED SATISFACTION WITH THE TRY SETTING....BS
