This report presents an overview of the initiatives and efforts under the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in dealing with drugs, crime, and terrorists for 2010.
Abstract
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) was established in 1997 leading the struggle against illicit drugs and international crime, and the lead United Nations entity for delivering legal and technical assistance to prevent terrorism. This report provides an overview of the many themes and activities where UNODC is engaged and involved. A major focus of this 2010 report is organized crime due to it posing a major threat to security. The report highlights UNODC's integrated approach to dealing with drugs, crime, and terrorism, and concludes by offering an assessment of the Office's financial requirements. Areas focused on in the report include justice, security, integrity, health, research and resources, scientific and forensic services, the UNODC's Web site, partnerships, and finances and funding.
