PRELIMINARY REPORT OF A SURVEY TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF SELECTED CRIMES WITHIN CERTAIN GEOGRAPHICAL AREAS OF THE CITY.
Abstract
THIS REPORT COMPARES THE VICTIMIZATION RATES FOR SEVERAL SELECTED SECTIONS IN THE PORTLAND METROPOLITAN AREA. DATA WERE OBTAINED FROM A RANDOMLY SELECTED SAMPLE OF MORE THAN 3950 HOUSEHOLDS. INTERVIEWS WERE CONDUCTED AND RESPONDENTS ASKED TO RECALL CRIMES COMMITTED AGAINST THEM DURING THE 12-MONTH PERIOD OF MAY 1973 THROUGH APRIL 1974. TABLES CONTAINING INFORMATION ON METROPOLITAN VICTIMIZATION RATES, PROBABILITY OF VICTIMIZATION RATES, AND DISTRIBUTION OF RISK FOR BURGLARIES ARE INCLUDED.
