TECHNICAL DOCUMENT REVIEWING AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY CONCERNED WITH THE GENERATION, USE AND EVALUATION OF COLOR ENCODED SPEECH SPECTOGRAMS.
Abstract
THE BASIC HYPOTHESIS OF THIS STUDY IS THAT GIVEN THE SPEECH SPECTOGRAM AS A MEANS OF SUSPECT IDENTIFICATION, A COLOR ENCODED DISPLAY WILL IMPROVE THEIR READABILITY. 'FOLLOWING AN INTRODUCTION AND A DISCUSSION OF RELATED RESEARCH, THE REPORT FIRST DESCRIBES THE ELECTRO OPTICAL USED TO TRANSFORM A CONVENTIONAL SPECTROGRAM TO A COLOR ENCODED DISPLAY.' BASICALLY, THE SYSTEM TRANSFORMS DIFFERENT DENSITY LEVELS TO DIFFERENT COLORS. ADVANTAGES INCLUDE THE REDUCTION OF TIME NEEDED TO PERFORM FEATURE EXTRACTION, CLASSIFICATION, AND THE INCREASED EASE OF READABILITY. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
