Abstract
The Washington County Restitution Center is a major component of the Washington County Department of Community Corrections. The center is designed to provide nondangerous offenders with a secure, well-structured residential living environment for a 3- to 12-month period of readjustment, guidance, and individual life planning. The program is a privilege extended by the Washington County district and circuit courts as an alternative to incarceration in the county jail. The report describes the center's situation in 1979-80 regarding the physical facility, population served, client profile, and screening/criteria for entrance. Activities for 1979-81 are delineated, including residents' financial obligations, employment, counseling, community service, and recreation. Staffing and supervision arrangements are described, as well as specific service objectives and anticipated results. Budget plans for 1981-83 are outlined, followed by a diagram of the center's administrative structure. Graphs are supplied.
