This report presents data on crime and arrests in Wisconsin during 1981. The data were collected by Wisconsin law enforcement agencies and reported monthly to the State Uniform Crime Reporting Program.
Abstract
The number of known Index offenses in the State remained virtually unchanged between 1980 and 1981; however, the 1981 total of 227,066 reported Index offenses is 67 percent higher than the 1971 total. There were an estimated 8,906 violent offenses, an increase of 4.2 percent over 1980; and an estimated 218,160 property offenses representing a 1 percent increase over 1980. Reported murders numbered 160 in 1981; reported rapes -- 738; and reported robberies -3,238. The bulk of the statistics are given in tabular form. A glossary is also provided.
