This document describes the work of RAND Europe to improve child policy in Europe.
Abstract
In 2013, the European Union launched the European Platform for Investing in Children (EPIC). This platform is focused on child policy and aims to help identify and facilitate the sharing of best practices with Member States in the European Union. The practices cover five policy areas with a focus on parenting and childcare, the provision of affordable services, and children's participation. This document describes not only the work of RAND Europe in support of EPIC but also the criteria developed by RAND to ensure that only proven and effective practices in support of children and families are included on the EPIC Web site. The EPIC Web site includes a section that provides a database of programs that have been implemented across the EU Member States. Member States are encouraged to submit practices for inclusion in the Practice User Registry that they have found to be effective. These practices are then evaluated, and if proven to work, are included in the Evidence Based Practices section of the Web site. References
