Researchers from the Urban Institute recently developed the Prison Population Forecaster (PPF) (https://apps.urban.org/features/prison-population-forecaster/), which allows individuals to explore how user-customized policy changes might affect prison populations, racial and ethnic compositions, and budgets in 45 states and the District of Columbia.

In this webinar, the presenters will draw from their experience creating the Prison Population Forecaster (PPF) to:
- Provide an overview of prison population forecasting (PPF)
- Offer a list of some key considerations, inputs, and outputs relevant to developing a forecast of prison populations, costs, and other outcomes
- Describe the methodology and statistical code used in the PPF

Presenters:
- Bryce Peterson is a principal research associate in the Urban Institute's Justice Policy Center
- Elizabeth Pelletier is a PhD student at the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington
