These Web pages provide information on building a comprehensive approach to sex offender management in tribal jurisdictions.
Abstract
This resource is an action guide designed to assist tribal officials in improving and strengthening their practices with respect to management of sex offenders in Indian country. The guide focuses on the key elements of the Comprehensive Approach to Sex Offender Management, a framework designed for use by jurisdictions wanting to develop sex offender management policies and practices that promote victim and community safety. The Comprehensive Approach contains the following elements: (1) Investigation, prosecution, and disposition; (2) Assessment; (3) Supervision; (4) Treatment; (5) Reentry; and (6) Registration and Community Notification. The guide is divided into seven sections that make it easier for use: (1) Goals of the guide and how to use it; (2) Background and introduction; (3) The Comprehensive Approach to Sex Offender Management; (4) What You Can Do; (5) References; (6) Links; and (7) Acknowledgments.
