The document provides in-depth descriptions of several aspects of LPR policy development: the purpose for establishing an LPR policy; what an entity’s authorized uses for LPR information are; legal compliance topics; information quality assurance; security and maintenance issue; information retention and purging; accountability and enforcement; training; and other related topics. The Appendixes include: glossary of terms and definitions; fair information practice principles 9FIPPs); listing of federal laws; cases and authorities; and a sample LPR policy.
