This report presents results from testing the FastBloc IDE (Firmware Version 16) against performance criteria specified in Hardware Write Blocker Assertions and Test Plan Version 1.0.
Abstract
A hardware write block (HWB) device is intended to prevent any change in data stored on a protected device without blocking access to the data for reading purposes only. One performance requirement is that a HWB device shall not transmit a command to a protected storage device that modifies the data on the storage device. For all test cases run on the Firmware Version 16, it always blocked any commands that would have changed user or operating system data stored on a protected drive. A second performance requirement for a HWB device is that it should return the data requested by a read operation. For all test cases run on the Firmware Version 16, it always allowed commands to read the protected drive. A third requirement for a HWB device is that it should return without modification any access-significant information requested from the drive. For all test cases run, the Firmware Version 16 always returned access-significant information from the protected drive without modification. The fourth performance requirement for a HWB device is that any error condition reported by the storage device to the HWB device should be reported to the host. For all test cases run, the Firmware Version 16 always returned error codes from the protected drive without modification. This report provides information and pertinent data on observations, test case selection, the testing environment, and the interpretation of test results.
