This Biannual Grantee Feedback Report for April-September 2015 presents data on the performance and achievements of grantees under the reentry courts program of the Second Chance Act (SCA), which provides funding to State, local, and tribal programs designed to provide services and supervision to persons released from prisons and jails, so as to improve their chances of living a productive and law-abiding life.
Abstract
The reentry courts were created under funding from the SCA to provide assessments of persons returning to the community after prison or jail incarceration, the matching of community-based services to the needs of participants, and the monitoring of progress and problems to ensure that progress is being made by participants. In the previous year (April - September 2014), 261 new participants (post-release only) were enrolled; this number declined to 103 new participants (post-release only) in the period April - September 2015. During the first half of FY 2015. 94 percent (61 participants) of all post-release participants who successfully completed the program were classified as either moderate or high-risk for reoffending. In the second half of FY 2015, the percentage increased to 100 percent (all 42 participants). Overall, the completion rate by quarter was 59 percent (post-release only). Also described are training and technical assistance resources and opportunities intended to improve outcomes. 7 figures and 4 tables
