The statistics in this report describe the characteristics of felon parolees in California in calendar year 1990 (to December 31, 1989). Most of the categories are broken down into State parole regions; a map of California parole regions is included.
Abstract
The report includes a list of offense groups by offense category. Felons are listed by sex, most serious offense, racial and ethnic group, and age. Many of the characteristics are also separated by gender. The findings indicate that the parole population increased by over 17 percent from December 31, 1988 and was 91.6 percent male and 8.4 percent female. The three largest groups of felons on parole were those convicted of controlled substance possession, robbery, and first-degree burglary. While whites, blacks, and Mexican-Americans were almost equally represented among the total felon parolee population, the proportions of ethnic groups differed in various regions. Over half the felon parolees were between 25 and 34 years old. 10 tables and 7 figures
