Abstract
THE CLEARINGHOUSE'S PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE FOR A COORDINATED APPROACH TO JOB PLACEMENT FOR EX-OFFENDERS. IT ALSO FACILITATES THE DELIVERY OF ANY AUXILIARY SERVICES NEEDED BY THE EX-OFFENDER. THERE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TOGETHER, IN ONE CENTRALIZED LOCATION, THE SERVICES OF A VARIETY OF AGENCIES AND ORGANIZATIONS CONCERNED WITH JOB PLACEMENT, AND WITH REHABILITATIVE AND CORRECTIONAL SERVICES FOR EX-OFFENDERS. TOGETHER THESE AGENCIES PROVIDE A WIDE RANGE OF SERVICES APPROPRIATE TO TRAINING PROGRAMS OR TO VARIOUS TREATMENT ORIENTED DIRECT SERVICE AGENCIES. JOB COUNSELORS ARE MATCHED WITH GROUPS OF STATE AND FEDERAL PROBATION AND PAROLE OFFICERS WITH WHOM THEY WORK ON A REGULAR BASIS. ANY EX-OFFENDER REFERRED BY A SOURCE OTHER THAN PROBATION OR PAROLE IS ASSIGNED TO COUNSELORS ON A ROTATING BASIS. THE MAJOR SOURCES OF JOBS FOR THE CLEARINGHOUSE HAVE BEEN THE COMPUTERIZED 'JOB BANK' OPERATED BY THE STATE EMPLOYMENT SERVICE AND INDEPENDENT JOB DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS BY THE STAFF.
