The first United Nations workshop dealing with computerized criminal justice information systems was held in Havana (Cuba) in August-September 1990.
Abstract
Workshop participants discussed the modeling of criminal justice processes, sentencing information systems, promoting consistency in sentencing through computerization, international cooperation and mutual assistance in the use of computer technology, integrated justice information systems in Australia and New South Wales, the Canadian public sector role in computerizing justice administration, and planning for technology transfer in the courts. Participants also considered information processing techniques in Colombia, Cuba, and Guatemala; the computerization of criminal justice information in Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the United Kingdom; and the use of computers by Indian law enforcement officials and the evolution of a computerized fingerprint identification system in that country.
