Statewide, the number of reported Index Crimes increased for seven of the eight offense categories from 1992 to 1993; the only offense for which there were fewer reported crimes in 1993 than in 1992 was forcible rape. In Hawaii County, the number of reported Index Offenses decreased 0.2 percent from 1992 to 1993. Crime and offense data are also provided for Maui County and Kauai County. The number of arrests Statewide fell 1.9 percent from 1992 to 1993. During that year, the number of adult arrests declined 3.5 percent, and the number of juvenile arrests increased 2.1 percent. In 1993, adults accounted for 69.8 percent of all arrests Statewide, 62.3 percent for Index Crimes, 77.9 percent for violent Index Crimes, and 60.6 percent for property Index Crimes. From 1992 to 1993, the number of drug-related arrests declined 11.2 percent Statewide. Among adults, the number of arrests fell 14.1 percent, and arrests of juveniles increased 10.9 percent.
