Statistics on crime in Alaska during 1992 were compiled from Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) data submitted by law enforcement agencies on most major cities in the State and covering more than 85 percent of the population.
          Abstract
The report reflects yearly statistics for statewide crime and crime totals broken down by police and other law enforcement agencies. Statistics indicate that Alaska experienced an 0.9 percent increase in the total number of crime index offenses in 1992. Violent crimes included murder, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. Aggravated assault experienced the highest increase, up 16.6 percent over the previous year. Total property crimes showed a 0.4-percent decrease. Burglary declined 5.3 percent, larceny/theft increased 1.3 percent, and motor vehicle theft decreased 2.8 percent. Detailed data are tabulated for Part I offenses (murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft) and for type and value of stolen property, arrests, arson offenses, police officers killed in the line of duty, and law enforcement employees by agency.
