Abstract
It reviews the history of the UCR Program and its procedures in the State. The crime analysis looks at Index crimes overall for the year and at the specific crimes of murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. The number of property crimes represented 91 percent of the total index, and these crimes increased 6.5 percent over 1979 figures. Law enforcers cleared by arrest or exceptional clearance 21 percent of all Index offenses reported to them in 1980. The total value of property stolen during the year was over $750 million. Tables, graphs, and pie charts are included. A glossary is appended.
