Extracts from the California Health and Safety Code pertain to the reporting of inmate AIDS infection, regulations for correctional treatment centers, and fire safety in health-care institutions.
Abstract
Medical personnel working in any correctional facility in California are required to report to the facility manager any case of HIV infection, an AIDS-related condition, or a communicable disease. Regulations are specified for a "correctional treatment center," which is any health facility operated by the Department of Corrections, the Department of the Youth Authority, or any law enforcement agency, and which provides both inpatient and outpatient services to those inmates that do not require general acute-care services. Provision is made for a tax exemption to a juvenile community care facility serving six or fewer persons. Authority is given to the Youth Authority to compel treatment for juveniles addicted to or at risk of addiction to controlled substances. Regulations for fire safety and fire prevention are specified for health care institutions in the State.
