The report reviews organized crime in Georgia, specifically illegal drug trafficking, gambling, pornography, organized auto theft, loan sharking, prostitution, arson, public and political corruption, and white-collar/commercial fraud. It details coordinated law enforcement operations against organized crime.
Abstract
One important crime prevention program operating during the year was Project Leviticus, a multistate investigation of organized crime activities in the Nation's coal fields. The successful 'Local to Help Locals' project enables any law enforcement agency in Georgia to request and receive manpower and equipment needed to carry out an undercover or special project in its jurisdiction. Training activities and a case history are included. The State law creating the Organized Crime Prevention Council and council bylaws are appended.
