This brochure provides a quick reference guide to the California Inmate Trust Accounting System (ITAS) that administers all funds belonging to inmates under the jurisdiction of the State Department of Corrections (DOC).
Abstract
ITAS is one component of the Distributed Data Processing System (DDPS), which is an integrated information sharing system for DOC institutions that includes inmate housing, classification, assignments, and trust accounting. ITAS uses the inmate roster to establish accounts for new inmates, while Inmate Classification keeps the trust offices current on each inmate's privilege group. The privilege group determines in part the amount of money an inmate can spend in the facility canteen. Current applications approved for development include the Automated Canteen Sales and Inventory System and the Inmate Restitution Fine Collections System. This brochure introduces ITAS in terms of its objective and scope, and describes the main functions available through the ITAS menus, including setting up a batch, depositing transactions, listing and balancing a batch, posting a batch, printing a canteen draw, maintaining accounts, placing and releasing holds, and writing checks.
