THE REPORT WAS PREPARED FOR THE USE OF THE GEORGIA LEGISLATURE. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LEGISLATION CONCERN THE FOLLOWING TOPICS: PROVISION OF FULL-TIME POLICE SERVICES; EFFECTIVE USE OF POLICE TRANSPORTATION EQUIPMENT; LAW ENFORCEMENT UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT; USE OF PATROLS TO CONTROL CRIME; REDUCTION OF TIME REQUIRED TO PROCURE SEARCH WARRANTS; SPECIALIZED SERVICES, SUCH AS CRIME LABORATORIES. ALSO COMMENTED ON ARE STATEWIDE PLAN FOR CONTROL OF UNUSUAL OCCURRENCES; EXPANSION OF THE INVESTIGATIVE AUTHORITY OF THE GEORGIA BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION; THE SELECTION, RECRUITMENT, AND EVALUATION OF POLICE PERSONNEL; TRAINING PROGRAMS; RADIO AND COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS IMPROVEMENTS.
