This book consists of the program/practice, research, and policy abstracts selected for presentation at the Eighth National Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect, sponsored by the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect, as well as a list of films selected for the Film Forum and a list of the Exhibitors participating at the conference.
Abstract
The abstracts were categorized according to main topics which included prevention programs and issues; investigation, intervention, and the legal system; assessment and treatment; medical issues; cultural programs and issues; domestic violence; and substance abuse. Other subjects covered at the conference included sex abuse programs and victim/victimizer issues; placement; special needs and handicapped programs; religious needs; professional training and management; military programs; and media/marketing issues. Additional abstract topics were reporting; institutional abuse; community involvement; neglect; physical punishment; emotional abuse; and missing children.
