The Commonwealth Secretariat is an international diplomatic agency serving the nations of the former British Empire and involved in many types of activities, including efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking.
Abstract
The Secretariat serves 47 countries. Its role in combating drug trafficking has developed pragmatically in response to specific needs, but it reflects member countries' deep concerns about the problem. Thus, the Secretariat's various divisions have commissioned studies, facilitated training, prepared model legislation, promoted the exchange of information, and taken part in international forums on the subject. The Secretariat has also made a determined effort to concentrate international law enforcement on the resources and property of those who are engaged in illicit drug trafficking.
