EVALUATION STUDY OF A STORE FRONT POLICE COMMUNITY RELATIONS OPERATION IN ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA.
Abstract
TWENTY FIVE POLICE OFFICERS UNDERWENT A COLLEGE SPONSORED COURSE IN COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND WERE ASSIGNED TO THE STORE FRONT OFFICE IN THE INNER CITY AREA. THE SPONSORING COLLEGE EVALUATED THE PROGRAM BY SURVEYING THE ATTITUDES OF CITIZENS IN THE TARGET AREA, NEIGHBORHOOD ORGANIZATIONS AND INSTITUTIONS, LEADERS AND BUSINESSMEN, AND POLICE IN THE PROGRAM THROUGH THE USE OF QUESTIONNAIRES AND INTERVIEWS. THIS REPORT SUMMARIZES THE RESPONSES AND OFFERS INTERPRETATIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS REGARDING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PROGRAM.
