This is the Resource Guide for the 2016 National Crime Victims' Rights Week (April 10-16), whose theme is "Serving Victims, Building Trust, Restoring Hope."

Abstract

Since 1981, National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW) has challenged the Nation to confront and remove barriers to full justice for all crime victims. Each year, communities across the country revisit the history of the victims' rights movement and recommit themselves to advancing the progress already achieved. This 2016 NCVRWGuide contains a wide array of user-friendly outreach tools and sample products; fact sheets on victimization; information on the history of victims' rights in the United States; and practical ideas for serving victims, building trust, and restoring hope in a community. The Guide contains a theme poster and a theme video, which highlights how serving crime victims and building trust restores hope and strengthens communities. The Guide's artwork includes a smaller theme poster and public-awareness poster in multiple electronic formats in English and Spanish. Access is provided to a resource guide website that contains all guide content, educational resources, and sample outreach tools. Instruction is provided on developing the campaign for the 2016 NCVRW, media tips and tools for communicating the NCVRW message, fact sheets on crime and victimization, and an outline of landmarks in victims' rights and services. Additional resources are suggested.
