Eighty participants, representing approximately 30 local jurisdictions and several Federal agencies, discussed various aspects of computer mapping technology and explored ideas for Federal-local partnerships to address issues of information- sharing. The meeting sessions included an overview of NIJ mapping initiatives and applications of crime mapping at the Department of Justice, as well as a description of possible future directions. One substantive session focused on the use of computer mapping by police departments in Pittsburgh and San Diego in their efforts to control drug markets.
