This bulletin presents brief synopses of conferences, grant and funding opportunities, recently released publications and Internet resources, and news from national juvenile justice agencies and organizations from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
Conferences reviewed in brief include Preventing Gangs in Our Communities held in 2006, Bringing Our Missing Children Home Safely held in 2006, the 16th International Congress on Child Abuse and Neglect held in 2006, and the upcoming Videoconference to Highlight Prevention Strategies and Interventions for Juvenile Status Offenders to be held in 2007. In the Department of Justice’s support in the enforcement of underage drinking laws, grants were awarded, under the Enforcing Underage Drinking Law (EUDL) program, in 2006 for more than $1 million to Arizona, Hawaii, and Montana in the prevention of alcohol consumption by underage personnel. Newly released publications cover the issues of program implementation, sexual exploitation of children, family resource guide on international kidnapping, and juvenile court statistics. New online resources include juvenile information sharing guidelines, fact sheet on juvenile court statistics, faith-based and community initiatives, juvenile offenders and community service, and arrests and offending patterns of female juvenile offenders. News updates are provided from the Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and the Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice.
