This booklet by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), through Fox Valley Technical Colleges is designed to help determine when a child is at risk for developing problem behaviors or being victimized. Inside are descriptions and ways to identify six key issues that pose the biggest threat to tribal youth today, along with local departments one can contact to help address the issue. There is also a listing towards the end of this booklet of national hotlines that one can call if concerned about the well-being of a youth. This booklet is intended to be used by all community members to increase awareness of the signs tribal youth might exhibit when they need help. The booklet provides information on violence and gang activity; Internet crimes against children; sexual abuse and exploitation; mental health issues ; missing children; and children at-risk for abduction. Additionally, there is a list at the end of this booklet of youth-serving organizations that serve tribal youth across the country to provide safe, nurturing, and productive environments and positive youth development programming.
