The purpose of this initiative is to deliver new tools to the Kenya Wildlife Service to strengthen its counter-poaching mission. This will allow the Bureau of Counterterrorism an opportunity to trial low-cost aircraft technologies and surveillance methods for law enforcement, border security, and counterterrorism efforts around the world. NIJ will take the lessons learned in Kenya to apply to State, local, and tribal law enforcement in the United States. The project is funded through the U.S. Department of State counter-terrorism fund.
