This report presents statistics on Kentucky's Court of Justice for the period from January 1, 1979, through June 30, 1980, as well as detailed descriptions of Kentucky's judicial system.
Abstract
Information is given on the organization, jurisdiction, and personnel of the Kentucky Court of Justice, including the supreme court, the court of appeals, the circuit courts, the district courts, and the clerk of court. Also discussed are the Judicial Council, the Judicial Retirement and Removal Commission, the Judicial Nominating Commissions, and the Judical Planning are appended along with a summary of legislation and an address on the status of the judiciary. During the period covered by this report the Court of Justice has filled 20 judicial vacancies through the nominating commission process, prepared program memoranda and budget requests for submission to the Kentucky General Assembly, and gained legislative approval for four additional circuit judges and nine additional district judges. The Court of Justice has also completed internal management studies, established mediation and diversion projects for pretrial services, and established the Ethics Committee of the Kentucky Judiciary. Additional accomplishments for the year are detailed.
