Abstract
This report describes the standard-setting process and the nature of the problem of adolescent pregnancy in Finland. Improvements in sex education and further liberalization of attitudes toward the use of contraceptives have helped to alleviate the problem of adolescent pregnancies. Information from a recent extensive survey conducted by the Faculty of Public Health Care of the University of Helsinki on sexual behavior of adolescents in Finland is described. Various services for pregnant adolescents in Finland, such as health care in the schools, and counseling concerning pregnancy resolution, are discussed. The author concludes that more intensive research on adolescent sexual behavior is necessary. Tables and 18 references. (Author abstract modified)
