Alcohol is the most significant health problem on college campuses today. Many students remain problem drinkers or alcoholics for the remainder of their lives.
Abstract
Alcohol is one of the nation's greatest killers, linked to over half of fatal automobile accidents each year and a number of serious, potentially fatal disorders. People with alcohol or other drug problems need early treatment as it is the most effective. However, people with alcohol or drug problems are often the last to admit that they have a problem. There is a network of counselors and health care professionals who provide assistance to students with alcohol and drug problems. The Substance Abuse Awareness and Intervention Program offers a number of specialized services including alcohol and drug awareness workshops, counseling, support groups, and education programs. 11 notes and appendix
