A DESCRIPTION OF THE EVIDENCE OF INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION OF TERRORIST AND REVOLUTIONARY GROUPS DISCOVERED BY FRENCH POLICE TRACKING DOWN ILITCH RAMIREZ SANCHEZ, A KNOWN TERRORIST.
Abstract
THE AUTHORS STATE THAT IT NOW SEEMS CLEAR THAT PARIS HAS BEEN THE CHIEF CLEARINGHOUSE FOR TRANSACTIONS AMONG THE WORLD'S PROLIFERATING TERROR GROUPS FOR SOME TIME. WHILE WESTERN INTELLIGENCE SOURCES DOUBT THAT ANYTHING LIKE A CENTRALIZED INTERNATIONAL TERRORIST COMMAND EXISTS, THEY ARE CERTAIN THAT SOME OF THE GROUPS HAVE WORKED OUT CLOSE TIES ON AT LEAST A PRACTICAL LEVEL. ACCORDING TO THE EVIDENCE LEFT BEHIND BY ILITCH RAMIREZ SANCHEZ, HE APPARENTLY WAS NOT ONLY A TOP AGENT OF THE MARXISTORIENTED POPULAR FRONT FOR THE LIBERATION OF PALESTINE BUT THE LEADER OF A GUERRILLA NETWORK WITH TIES TO SUCH DIVERSE GROUPS AS THE BAADER-MEINHOF GANG, THE TURKISH POPULAR LIBERATION FRONT, BASQUE, BRETON AND CORSICAN SEPARATIST MOVEMENTS, AND EVEN THE QUEBEC LIBERATION FRONT OF CANADA. OTHER INDICATIONS OF SUCH INTERNATIONAL TERRORIST COOPERATION ARE ALSO DISCUSSED. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
