STANDARDS OF CONDUCT FOR PROSECUTION AND DEFENSE COUNSEL IN PROVIDING SERVICES TO DEFENDANTS WERE FORMULATED BY AN ABA ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
Abstract
A LAWYER'S DUTY IN REPRESENTING THE ACCUSED IS THE SAME WHETHER HE IS COURT APPOINTED, PRIVATELY RETAINED, OR SERVING IN A DEFENDER SYSTEM. A LAWYER MUST DISCLOSE THE FACTS TO HIS CLIENT AND PROVIDE CONFIDENTIALITY. ABA STANDARDS ARE BEING CITED IN COURT DECISIONS, STATUTES, AND COURT ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATIONS.
