This paper is the annotated provisional agenda and proposed organization of work for the United Nations Ad Hoc Committee on the Elaboration of a Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime.
Abstract
The paper outlines the provisional agenda, agenda annotations, and provisional organization of work of the 11th session of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Elaboration of a Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime held in Vienna in 2000. Eight agenda issues included: (1) the opening of the 11th session of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Elaboration of a Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime convening in October, 2000; (2) the adoption of the agenda and organization of work providing details on the meetings to be held; (3) finalization and approval of the additional international legal instrument (protocol) against trafficking in persons, especially women and children; (4) finalization and approval of the additional international legal instrument against illegal trafficking in and transporting of migrants; (5) finalization and approval of the additional international legal instrument against illicit manufacturing of and trafficking in firearms, their parts and components and ammunition; (6) examine the consistency among the three additional international legal instruments--terminology and structure among the three instruments, terminology with the convention, and the texts of each instrument in the six official languages; (7) draft the resolution on the adoption of the convention and the protocols put for consideration and action by the General Assembly at its 55th session, with amendments required for the adoption of the protocols; and (8) the adoption of the report of the Ad Hoc Committee on it 11th session.
