DIFFERENT FACETS OF BRITAIN'S JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM (AS IMPLEMENTED UNDER THE CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS ACT, 1969) ARE BROUGHT UNDER ATTACK, ESPECIALLY SENTENCING AND THE AGE OF CRIMINAL RESPONSIBILITY.
Abstract
THE SENTENCING ALTERNATIVES AVAILABLE TO JUVENILE COURT MAGISTRATES ARE LISTED, AND CHANGES IN THEIR PROVISIONS AND USE ARE SUGGESTED. OTHER RELATED PROBLEMS INCLUDE TRUANCY, LEGAL AID FOR JUVENILES, THEIR RIGHT TO APPEAL, AND THE LACK OF RESOURCES TO DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM IN GENERAL.
