This booklet describes the mission and programs of the Arab Security Studies and Training Center (ASSTC) in Riyad, Saudi Arabia, which was established to contribute to the attainment of the highest levels of security, stability, and prosperity in Arab states.
One objective of the ASSTC is to ensure adequate research support for an understanding of crime and related social problems, so as to create a sound foundation of knowledge for the formulation of crime prevention policies in Arab societies. A second objective is to disseminate the provisions of Islamic criminal legislation and introduce its comprehensive array of principles and systems of justice administration. It also promotes and upgrades capabilities and performance standards for Arab security personnel through specialized studies and training. Finally, the ASSTC consolidates and fosters relations with crime prevention institutions within the Arab community and the international society, so as to enhance the exchange of information and expertise. This booklet explains the composition and work of the ASSTC Board of Directors and profiles the Graduate School of Criminal Justice, the publishing house, the Symposia Department, the Research Center, the Training Institute, ASSTC's international cooperation, security exhibitions, consulting services, the Forensic Science Laboratories, the Security Data Center, and audio-visual production.
