SURVEY OF A NORTHEASTERN POLICE DEPARTMENT SHOWED THAT POLICE WERE NOT MORE PREJUDICED THAN AMERICANS IN GENERAL OR OTHER NORTHERN MEMBERS OF THE WORKING CLASS.
Abstract
THE FINDING SUGGESTS AN IMPORTANT IMPLICATION - POLICE APPEAR NOT TO BE SELECTIVELY RECRUITED FROM GROUPS WITH EXTREME RACIAL VIEWS. FROM ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE PEOPLE WITH INTOLERANT VIEWS ARE NOT ESPECIALLY ATTRACTED TO POLICE WORK. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
