Abstract
PASSAGE OF THIS BILL WAS PRECEDED BY A SURVEY AND EVALUATION OF ALL CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES WAS CONDUCTED. OF THE THREE PLANS IDENTIFIED FOR JAIL REFORM, A SYSTEM OF REGIONAL CORRECTIONAL CENTERS, EACH SERVING SEVERAL EXISTING JURISDICTIONS, WAS RECOMMENDED. SPECIFICALLY RECOMMENDED WAS THE DEVELOPMENT OF JAIL STANDARDS AND INSPECTION SYSTEMS, A COPY OF ACT 244 IS INCLUDED IN THIS REPORT. THE MAIN PROVISIONS ARE ALSO SUMMARIZED.
