Abstract
THE DOCUMENT PROVIDES A SUMMARY OVERVIEW OF THE STATE, REPORTING COMPARISONS BETWEEN ARKANSAS PRISONERS AND NATIONAL AVERAGES, THE FIVE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING AREAS, AND THE FIVE STANDARD METROPOLITAN STATISTICAL AREAS (SMSA). IT ALSO CONTAINS A COMPARISON AMONG CITIES WITH POPULATION OF 25,000 OR MORE, AND THE 75 COUNTY JAILS IN ARKANSAS, AS WELL AS CITIES UNDER 25,000, DIVIDED INTO THE FIVE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING AREAS OF THE STATE. SEVERAL CHAPTERS PROVIDE INDIVIDUAL STATISTICAL SUMMARIES COMPARING THE JAILS AND PRISONERS WITHIN EACH OF THE FIVE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING AREAS OF THE STATE.
